Advent: December 4

Theme:

Covenant with Abram

Symbol:

A starry night

Read

Genesis 12:1-7, 15:1-6 (Galatians 3:7,16; Hebrews 11:8-12)

Ask:

  • What does God call Abram to do? (Leave his country) How do you think he felt?

  • What promises did God make to Abram? (great nation, great name, blessing). Were these promises humanly possible? (No Abram and Sarai were too old). How did Abram respond? (He believed)

  • Why did God ask Abram to count the stars? (His offspring would be just as numerous) Which of Abram’s offspring will ultimately bring blessing and fulfill these promises? (Jesus Christ) (Galatians 3:16)

  • Who are Abraham’s true children? (Christians) (Galatians 3:7)

Sing:

Wherever He Leads, I’ll Go

Pray:

God of our Father Abraham, thank you for still keeping Your promises to us as You did in the Bible. Help us to believe in You and Your promises even when the situation is scary or seems impossible. Thank you that through faith in Jesus Christ, we can enjoy the blessings of being children of Abraham too. Amen.
