Advent: December 14

Theme:

Solomon

Symbol:

The Temple

Read

1 Kings 9:1-9 (John 2:13-22)

Ask:

  • What is the purpose of the temple? (to be a house where God’s presence will dwell)

  • What promise does God make to Solomon? (One of his descendents will reign forever if he walks in integrity before the Lord) Who else did He make this promise to? (David) Did the people keep or break this covenant? (They broke it, but God kept His promise)

  • How is Jesus the true and better temple? (He is the presence of God John 1:14) How are Christians in the New Testament related to the temple? (1 Corinthians 3:16-17)

Sing:

O Come Let Us Adore Him

Pray:

Our Father in Heaven, thank You for making Your dwelling among us in Jesus Christ. Forgive us of our disobedience. We admit we can never be in Your presence in our sinful state. Thank You for the forgiveness in Your Son, Your Spirit that dwells in us, and the hope to enjoy Your presence forevermore. Amen.
