Advent: December 1

Theme:

Creation

Symbol:

The Earth

Read

Genesis 1 (John 1:1-5)

Ask:

  • How is creation repeatedly described? (Good) Why is it this way? (God is good) How did God create the world? (He spoke it into being)

  • When we think of Jesus’ birth, why is it important that we begin with creation? (The Son of God has always existed, even before his human birth)

  • How do you see Jesus in this passage? (The Son of God created the world with the Father and the Spirit) Read John 1:1-5 to help.

Sing:

Joy to the World (Joyful, Joyful) by Phil Wickham

Pray:

Creator, we thank You for the good world that You have made. More importantly, we praise You for being the source of all goodness. As we begin to reflect on the coming of Your Son, may we remember that the story of advent begins in Genesis as You created all things for Your glory and our good. Help us to see the goodness of Your Son through this journey, sharing this goodness with others. Amen.
